There are 7 Preferred Seats available for purchase on North American routes operated with our 767 aircraft. Seats may be purchased during check-in; seat locations vary by aircraft.
For some Hawaiian Airlines flights, the web is all you need—you can buy your Preferred Seats in advance online. On other flights, Preferred Seats will be available when you check in at the airport. Our codeshare partners have their own policies, so we’re not able to offer Preferred Seats on codeshare flights.

You can buy Preferred Seats in advance on our Airbus A330 North America and International flights, and on our Boeing 717 Neighbor Island flights. For North America Boeing 767 flights, Preferred Seats are only available at the time of check-in via the web, kiosk or airport gate agent.

No. Miles cannot be used to upgrade a Preferred Seat.
Yes. Coach tickets that were purchased using HawaiianMiles can be upgraded a Preferred Seat, however the upgrade must be made in USD. HawaiianMiles cannot be used to purchase Preferred Seat upgrades.
An eCertificate may only be used for the purchase of a ticket and will not be applied to the cost of an Preferred Seat.

Customers who voluntarily cancel, or change their flight, itinerary, or cabin, will not be eligible for a refund. However, if a Preferred Seat is available on the new flight, the customer may secure the Preferred Seat using the original payment.
Advance sale of Preferred Seats are available online at www.HawaiianAirlines.com.
Advance sales are only available on our A330 aircrafts which are operated on flights between Honolulu and Portland / San Francisco / Los Angeles / San Diego / Las Vegas / Haneda(Tokyo) / Kansai(Osaka ) / Sydney /Auckland / Taipei. All other North America and International routes are operated using the B767 aircrafts and are available for purchase at the time of check-in only.
If available, Hawaiian will try to accommodate you with another Preferred Seat. If we are unable to secure another Preferred Seat, we will automatically request a refund to your credit card.
You will be charged for the ticket change and the fare difference. The Preferred Seat for Honolulu to JFK is a higher rate so if available, you will be charged the difference in the price to secure the Preferred Seat on the new flight. If the seat is not available, no refund will be issued for your Honolulu to Portland flight.
Advance Sales of Preferred Seats are only available on flights operated with an A330 aircraft. Currently your San Jose flight is operated on a 767 aircraft and not eligible for the advance sale. Preferred Seat sales will be available at check-in either online or at the airport kiosk within 24 hours of departure.
If you are canceling your flight and Preferred Seat within 24 hours of booking, please let us know you purchased a Preferred Seat and would like it to be included in the refund. Cancellations outside of the 24 hours will not be eligible for the refund.
No discounts will be offered to our elite members but you may still list for a seat on the day of departure. Please report to the Customer Service Podium at the gate area and request to list for a Preferred Seat. Seat assignments are based on availability within an hour of departure. If the seats are available, the gate agent will call you to confirm your seat. This offer is extend to elite members plus 1 companion.
If your travel is at least 7 days out and you are canceling your flight and Preferred Seats within 24 hours of booking, please let us know you purchased the Preferred Seats and would like it to be included in the refund. Cancellations outside of 24 hours within booking or travel that is booked less than 7 days out will not be eligible for the refund.
You will be charged for the ticket change and the fare difference. If the Preferred Seat is available on the new flight you may select the Preferred Seat at no additional charge. If the Preferred Seat is not available you will forfeit the fee collected for the seat. Unused payment may not be used for future flights.
